TECNO Mobile Spark 6 Go: UNBOXING AND FULL REVIEW

TECNO Mobile is always commited in giving the consumers access to the latest technology at relatively affordable prices. They wouldn’t be tagged as “smartphone for the masses” for nothing. And they proved it just recently, as TECNO Mobile releases another smartphone under the Spark 6 series that is really wallet-friendly at the same time packed with cool specs… the TECNO SPARK 6 GO.

If you would notice, TECNO Mobile is very consitent with the look of their packaging. It has its signature blue-yellow-black color, brand logo and handset model in the front, highlighted specs, storage and RAM label on the sides.

TECNO SPARK 6 Go’s build is made of polycarbonate plastic material which gives the handset a lighter feel. Actually it is slightly thin and light to carry considering the phone’s battery capacity. And eventhough it is made out of mostly plastic, it doesn’t look cheap at all. That’s because of the holographic design pattern at the back case which is much visible when light strikes on it or by moving the phone sideways. It has a glossy finish but suprisingly, fingerprint marks are not that noticable.

EXTERIOR: BUTTONS, PARTS, SCREEN

On the right side, you’ll find the power/lock button alongside with the volume rockers. At the bottom you’ll see the microphone, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro usb port. Located at the back is the fingerprint sensor, camera module with dual camera set-up(i will discuss the cameras later), and LED flash.

Spark 6 Go’s speaker grill can be found at the back part instead of the usual bottom location like the other smartphones that I have reviewed, which I think is good because whenever I’m watching movies or playing games on landscape orientation, my hand usually covers the speaker part most of the time, sacrificing the audio volume. With TECNO Spark 6 Go, you’ll never have that problem. not unless you place the phone on a surface covering the speaker.

Maybe you are wondering. Where’s the simcard and memory card slots? Well, TECNO SPARK 6 Go does this the old style(not the tray version). Meaning, you have to remove the back case first so you can get access to the 2 simcard slots and 1 memory card slot.

In the front, you’ll find the selfie camera at the top-mid part of a 6.52-inch HD+ Dot Notch Display. The screen has a 20:9 screen aspect ratio and 720 x 1600 resolution that will provide its users a wider, clearer, and good visual experience especilly if you love to watch movies, or play mobile games. In all fairness, even if it is just 720p resolution, the interface’s saturation and vibrancy of colors are above average. Something that you don’t expect on a budget phone.

It’s also nice that Spark 6 Go has a Dark theme mode feature which I usually preferred because aside from it is power efficient(uses less phone battery), it is also not straining to my eyes like its counterpart.

PERFORMANCE:

TECNO Spark 6 Go runs on TECNO Operating System, the Android 10 HiOS, for a more intelligent, optimized, and convenient user experience. It is touch responsive, easy to navigate, and has smooth transition when browsing. So far I hardly experienced any lags even while using multiple social media apps .That’s because Spark 6 Go is equippped with 2.0GHz 12nm Media Tek Helio A20 Quad Core Processor and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage(also available in 2GB RAM/32GB storage) which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD. 

WOW! up to 256GB! Knowing the storage capacity, just imagine how videos, photos, music, files can you save on your Spark 6 GO phone right?

 Based on my usage while playing games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang, it lags a bit and I noticed some delays when the game settings are set to high(see photo on my setting). I also noticed that graphics are not that smooth as well in game which is very understandable since this smartphone is on an entry-level category. But when I turned off and adjusted some of those settings, my playing experience improved. I think for everyday and not so graphic intensive usage, this phone can deliver and can do its purpose.

BATTERY LIFE:

Spark 6 Go is powered by a whopping 5,000 mAh battery which makes it ideal for photography, gaming, browsing, video streaming and music. Look at the battery usage since my last full charge, 3 hrs and 7 mins for playing Mobile Legends, 1 hr and 44 mins on Youtube and so on. See how many power left? I still have 24% which I can still last for 5 HOURS! and it could be more if you will turn on the Power Saving mode option. Wow! Cool right?! Now you don’t need to charge from time to time.

CAMERA:

This budget smartphone houses an 8MP front camera which can capture decent selfie shots especially on well-lighted environment. The color saturation though is a bit soft but acceptable. It has various features such as VIDEO, AI CAM, BEAUTY, PORTRAIT, AR SHOT and WIDE SELFIE. You can also use different aspect ratio from 1:1, 4:3, and Full Screen if you want to a more wider camera coverage.

Just look how I enjoyed its AR SHOT mode. No judgements please HAHAHA! ????.  You will definietly love this as well especially if you love taking selfie shots.

TECNO Spark 6 Go rear camera deck houses a 0.3 MP “bokeh” camera and 13-Megapixel Camera(primary lens) that supports 4x Digital Zoom with F-1.8 big aperture and has Autofocus, Geotagging, Panorama, Touch focus, Face detection, and Self-timer features. It can capture on different shooting modes and can perform various camera functions such as Slow Motion, Video, AI CAM, Beauty, Bokeh, AR Shot, Panorama, Documents.  Since it uses AI lens, you’ll be amazed that it can detect 18 different scene(Kitty, Food, Puppy, Plant, Macro, and many more) with up to 95% recognition rate and upgraded algorithms. The rear camera can also shoot 1080p@30fps videos.

Adding to the camera features is the Google Lens where it helps you search what you see(shopping,places,dining), get things done faster (homework,text) and understand the world around you(translate).

For full resolution of these photos check it out here. I must say, for a smartphone that belongs to a low-end(budget phone)category, this phone can take very decent quality photos. Just don’t expect the colors to be as crisp and vibrant compared to higher-end models.

OTHER FEATURES TO LOVE:

The Audio Share feature can connect other wireless Bluetooth headsets or speakers all at the same time in your TECNO Spark 6 Go device, enabling users to listen and watch with friends on the same music or videos. This is so cool right? very suited for house parties, sound trips, and movie nights. ????

Wifi Share enables you to share your wifi through a QR code. Just let your friends scan the code so they can automatically get connected to your Wifi. How to set it up? Just go Settings> Network & Internet> Wifi> Click on the connected device name. After scanning the QR code you are all set!.

So that’s it. If you are on a budget and looking for a smartphone below the P6,000 mark, you might want to consider this phone. For its price range it looks stylish and has a large screen display, enough speed and performance, cameras that can take decent photos, long-lasting battery, and plenty of features that is not common on budget devices.
