This is really good news and I’m so excited to share this with you. realme, the number two smartphone brand in the Philippines, just launched new AIoT devices under their healthcare category: the realme M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush and realme Smart Scale.

But for this blog, I will share and discuss with you the features, my impression, and review soley about realme M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush. Hopefully this will help you decide if you would want buy this product in the near future.

This is the reason why brushing our teeth regularly is a must and choosing the right toothbrush to use is something we should give importance.

Just like its packaging, realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush has a minimalistic design. The high-quality plastic built and skin-friendly coating really gives M1 a very elegant, and premium look. It feels fairly solid too and is not hard to grip on. It’s not slippery even when it is wet.

The cylindrical handle weighs about 100 grams which is heavier than the normal toothbrush that we are using and even compared to other electric toothbrushes in the market. This is understandable because of the built,sonic motor, battery, and everything that is inside the handle unit. The 3.5mm thin metal-free brush head on the other hand, weighs just about 4 grams. According to realme, they still don’t sell separate brush heads for the meantime, but is considering of doing so in the near future.

For color availability, I have the blue color variant to try, but there’s also another color variant which is white.

It is really nice that realme included 2 brush heads for its M1 toothbrush. One(1) Sensitive and one(1) Regular. And it is not just any other type of bristle, it is made of Dupont™antibacterial bristles which has 99.99% anti-bacterial properties. The bristles were also set at 10-degrees angle for deep cleaning and 98% of it were made end-rounded to prevent oral injuries.

To turn on the M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush, just press on the circle button found in the unit handle. You will then feel the unit vibrating. That is the 34,000 times-per-min high-frequency sonic motor working.

realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush has 4 cleaning modes such as follows:

• Soft mode for sensitive teeth. This mode ensures effective cleaning and improves care for users with sensitive gums.
• Clean mode for daily use. Suitable for routine oral cleanliness as brushing with high frequency vibrations generates fluid flow in the mouth, the foam becomes finer while dental plaque and other impurities can be cleared more quickly.
• White mode This mode can using high frequency vibrations for deep cleaning and whitening that protects the enamel at the same time.
• Polish mode for shining teeth. Different frequencies are used to alternate the vibrations so that the bristles’ movements can cover each tooth from various angles. Its high-frequency sonic motor can vibrate up to 34,000 times per minute with less than 60dB noise to improve user experience.

As I change and progress from one cleaning mode to another(Soft Mode to Clean Mode to White Mode), I noticed that the intensity of the vibrations increases. The last cleaning mode which is the Polish mode, oscillates bristles at a wider angle. All modes have an auto-stop timer for 2 minutes, which is ideally the recommended time for brushing our teeth. If you wish to brush a little bit more than two mins, you have to press the button again and it will go to the mode that you last used which is another feature of realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush.

Scared of getting it wet? No need to worry when cleaning the brush under running water or holding it with wet hands  because the realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush is IPX7 rated which means it can be submerged up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes. In short, it is water-resistant. Cool right!realme made sure thar every realme electric toothbrush goes through rigorous quality tests to ensure durability and sturdiness.

Powering up this cool device is an 800mAh battery that can be charged via a wireless charging dock which is included in the realme m1 package. The battery takes around 4.5 hours to go full charge that can last for about 300 hours. 300 hours can go a long way with 2 minutes of use, 2-3 times a day. No need to charge the unit from time to time.

Since my childhood, I already have sensitive teeth and gums. I usually use soft to meduim type of bristles to keep my teeth and gums clean and healthy. At first I was hesitatnt to use the realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush because it’s motorized and this could add more pressure when brushing. But surprisingly, it is soft and gentle on my gums, softer than my usual soft-bristled toothbrush- even on higher cleaning modes. I also find the sonic vibrations and oscillating bristles very effective. It can remove some plaque without too much effort. And since the brush head is slim and quite small, I can easily reach even the far end of my teeth(wisdom teeth).

I have yet to know the long term effect of using this device, but according to research and as recommended by dentists, electric brushes like realme M1 Sonic Electric toothbrush are more effective in reducing plaque and gingivitis.
