DESIGN
The design of the realme Buds Q2s is uniquely different from other realme buds devices. With its transparent case(Spacecraft Voyaging Case Design), out of the box, you’ll be able to appreciate right away the stylish look of the buds. The lid of the transparent case though is not scratch-proof as I can see fine scratches as I use it
As for the case, it is still the same cobble-shaped case, same as its predecessor, with light indicator in front and a standard USB Type-C charging port at the back side for a hassle-free experience, especially when you are using other devices with the same type of port.
The charging case measures about 60.35×44.5×32.2mm and weighs just 39 grams which makes it so easy carry around, or handy enough that you can simply put it in your pocket or bag without occupying too much space.
Docked in the case, you’ll find the two oval-shaped earbuds, and that shiny portion is the Intelligent touch control where you can use to answer calls, control playback, and activate/deactivate Game Mode. The earbuds has a nice fit and it does not easily fall off when walking and running. If it’s falling off, I suggest that you change the ear tips. For me the best fit is the smallest one.
The earbuds are lightweight(weighs only 4gms) and comfortable to wear even when worn for long hours. realme Buds Q2s is also IPX4 Water Resistant which makes it splash-proof and sweat-proof. Safe to use when working out, jogging out or running.
The realme Buds Q2s has 3 available colors: Paper White, Night Black, and Paper Green.
CONNECTIVITY, PAIRING, AND CONTROLS
Pairing the Buds Q2s to your mobile phone is easy. Open the case with the buds still docked inside and pair it through Bluetooth settings, or manually pair it through the realme Link App. Once paired, you are good to use it and it automatically pairs when you open the case(can maintain connection at a maximum of 10 meters distance from the buds). It doesn’t have Google fast pair mode which is just fine.
What I like about realme TWS devices, Q2s included, is that I can easily customize and change the Intelligent touch control settings to my own preference via the realme Link App.
PERFORMANCE AND AUDIO QUALITY
The realme Buds Q2s features a 10mm Bass Boost Driver with Dolby Atmos Support. For the latter, you can choose between two different profiles:
- Environment profile: Indoor, On-the-Go, Commute, Flight.
- Scenario specific profile: Smart, Movie, Gaming, Music.
You may also choose among three sound effects such as BASS BOOST+, BALANCED(this one I prefer), and BRIGHT. For the price range, I am impressed with the sound quality that the Buds Q2s delivers. It has a nice bass quality, though it kinda dominates a bit some highs and mids, but overall my listening experience is still acceptable and enjoyable. Turning on the VOLUME ENHANCER gives an extra boost of volume, but for me this is not necessary.
GAME MODE can also be turned on in the app or you may use the touch control in the earbuds to activate it(Touch both earbuds at the same time). Turning this is very useful when gaming and watching movies as it reduces the latency to 88ms. Actually, I hardly noticed any lags when it comes to audio-video. If you will not be too critical and for audiophile like me the audio and video are pretty much in synch.
As for the mic quality, I find it clear enough to understand the person on the other line. The person on the other side of the call however, observed that I sounded a bit phony. The Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) helps a bit with the background noise, but it doesn’t totally silence it.
BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING
Powering the realme Buds Q2s is a 480mAh large battery(40mAh for the earbuds and 400mAh for the charging case) which promises 30 Hours Total Playback with a standby time of up to 60 hours.
Based on my actual usage, with minimal calls and mostly listening to music, playing games and watching movies at 50-60% volume level, the buds(fully charged) lasted a little bit more than 6 hours which is impressive.
Charging the buds in the case took about an hour to completely charge, while the charging case took about 2.5hrs. With the 10-minute quick charge, I was able to use the buds and got its battery drained out for about almost 2 hours(at an average of 50-60% volume level). By the way, you can see the battery level of the buds at the realme Link App or bluetooth settings. As for the the battery level of the case, unfortunately, you cannot check it as it is not showing in the app.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The realme Buds Q2s is priced at P1,490 and is available in all realme stores/outlet nationwide. You may also get it online at realme’s official store in Shopee and Flagship Store in Lazada.
VERDICT:
Overall, I would say that the realme Buds Q2s is a good deal for its price point as it offers decent audio quality, stable and easy connectivity, long battery life, good app support for customization of controls(realme Link App), and comfortable to wear even for long hours.
If you are looking for a TWS audio device that has style, functionality and will fit your budget, then this might be the one you are looking for.
