If you’re looking for a new pair of budget-friendly TWS earbuds, you might want to check this one out.
PACKAGING
Let’s start with the packaging. realme Buds Q2 comes with the brand’s signature yellow color with picture and name of the product on the front, some specification highlights on both sides, and other product information at the back such as product color, model(RMA2010), product dimension, and consumer care information just to mention a few.
WHAT’S INSIDE THE BOX?
The realme Buds Q2 comes with the following:
- realme Buds Q2 Charging case
- realme Buds Q2 earpiece(left and right)
- Ear Tips(1 pair small and 1 pair medium)
- User Manual/warranty card
- Micro-USB Charging Cable
DESIGN
Just like its predecessor, the Buds Q2 charging case has a cobble-like design made of hard matte plastic. The earbuds’ design on the other hand is different from its previous model. `From the Buds Q that has R logo design, now the newest Buds Q2 incorporates a trendsetting, kaleidoscope-like pattern design which is very noticeable and looks hip.
The Buds Q2’s charging case packs a lightweight built which is only 39g. The earbuds are light as a paper with only 4.1g per earbud which makes it comfortable to wear on ear even for a long period of time. This is actually one of the lightest earbuds that I have worn. The smart earbuds also come with an IPX4 dust and waterproof rating which can tolerate light rainfalls, some splashes, and sweat during workouts.
Why did I call it smart earbuds? That’s because it has intelligent touch feature where users can swiftly switch music, activate gaming mode and answer/end calls. There are only four controls
- Play/Pause music or Answer/End call
- Triple-tap: Skip to next song
- Long press on one earbud: Reject call
- Long press on both earbuds: Enter/Exit Gaming Mode
For the color, I’ve got the Unique Blue. Also available in Classic Black.
CONNECTIVITY
Connecting your realme Buds Q2 to your smartphone device is easy since it is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 support. This gives its users high transmission speed, stable signal and low power consumption. You can even use it up to 10 meters away from the paired smartphone. This is a very nice feature especially when you have a lot of things to do. With this, I can still listen to music, take calls and just leave my smartphone on a certain distance.
To pair, just make sure that your device’s(smartphone, laptop, tablet) Bluetooth is turned on. You can pair it manually via bluetooth settings or pair it via google pair. Just in case the earbuds are not detected by your smartphone, just put it back in the case and close the cover. Open it up again, then touch and hold the smart touch surface of the earphones at the same time for more than 3 seconds.
What I love about realme AIoT devices is that I can easily customize the intelligent touch control setting of each device through the realme Link App. It is very user-friendly. After I paired and added the Buds Q2 in the app, I can browse through and customize the settings of the earbuds’ smart touch controls according to my preference and convenience.
In the app, you can also monitor the battery level of the charging case and earbuds. You can also choose sound effects such as Bass Boost +, Dynamic, and Light.
SOUND QUALITY
The realme Buds Q2 is equipped with 10mm Dynamic Bass Boost Driver which uses high-quality PEEK & TPU polymer composite diaphragm for an improved sound experience. The buds can deliver loud volume. However, as I listen to bass intensive movies and music, it lacks in details and depth quite a bit. Though I find the sound quality still clear and audible.
For phone calls, the buds feature a single microphone with Environmental Noise Cancellation(ENC) technology which did a good job in reducing external noises so the person on the other end of the call can hear me clearly even when I’m outdoors. Since it doesn’t have an ANC feature, I can still hear noises around which is a bit distracting but tolerable. Then again, this is a budget-friendly audio device, so I’m not expecting it to be at par with higher models and expensive ones.
I also used the Buds Q2 while playing games on my smartphone, the 88ms Super Low Latency Gaming Mode can definitely deliver its purpose. It reduces the latency by as much as 51% so I hardly notice any delays on the synchronization of audio and video.
CHARGING AND BATTERY LIFE
The realme Buds Q2 promises a 20-Hour Battery Life for longer usage. That’s 20 hours of total playback!(with the charging case).WOW! This AIoT device is powered by a built-in 400mAh battery(charging case) and 40mAh battery(each earbud) which can provide 3-hour single continuous calling time and 5-hour single continuous music listening time.
So I took my Buds Q earbuds battery life to test. 12:45PM at 100% (fully-charged), I started using it while watching movies and playing Mobile Legends alternately. With continous use, at 5: 28PM, the Buds Q earbuds still has remaining charge in it(please see photo above). That’s more that 5 hours of usage.
Maybe you are wondering why the left and right earbuds has different battery percentage. That’s because at some point during my test while playing games, I decided to remove the right earbud so I can hear my husband clearly while we are playing Mobile Legends(hahahah)-we are talking for our strategy. And according to my research, this battery percentage difference is normal. Since I removed the right earbuds and place it further from my phone(signal source),it would require more signal strength resulting to additional power consumption.
Nevertheless, the realbuds Q2 is true to its promise. It can actually last up to 5 hours. Mine lasted a little more than 5 hours actually, which is very good.
Charging your Buds Q2 earbuds is so easy. Just place both earbuds on the charging case and that’s it. Charging takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge. Don’t forget to clean them first before docking them ok?. And you know what? with just 10 mins of charging the earbuds, it would give you 120 minutes of playback already.
As for the charging case, the realme Buds Q2 supports charging via the Micro-USB port which takes 2 hours to fully charge.
