As a blogger, my work is mostly online and having a smartphone is a necessity for me so I can easily update my posts in social media, do my research, take and edit photos that I use for posting, and more online-related tasks wherever and whenever I want. Aside from that, my mobile phone is also a source of entertainment for me because I do movie streaming, browse social media, do online shopping(retail therapy hahaha!????????????) and play mobile games like Mobile Legends( like a lot! ????)
I consider myself a heavy smartphone user. So I always need a phone that functions well and can last long enough inspite of the heavy load of mobile activities that I mentioned above.
Just recently, I received the newly launched smartphone(THANK YOU realme ????), the realme 6i in Soda Blue color(the newest color released by the brand) and was able to put it to test. I’m so excited to share my review about this newest phone under the realme 6 series product line.

EXTERNAL FEATURES:
Just like other realme smartphones, realme 6i has the same buttons and sim/sd card location. On the left side- are the volume up and down button which is beside the 3-card slots for the two SIM cards and one SD card (up to 256GB).
Note: realme 6i also has 3 memory variants, 3GB+64GB, 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB. Wow! Up to 128GB? Imagine how many files you can store in it, install numerous games and download movies. Love it!
The Power button is located on the right side, and at the bottom is where the 3.5mm Audio Jack, Mic, USB Type-C port, and speaker are located.
realme 6i also has a 16MP In-display Selfie Camera in the front and 48MP AI Quad Camera at the back. Will share with you the specifics and sample photos of both cameras later as you read further. By the way, there’s also a fingerprint scanner at the back.
DESIGN
The realme 6i is a classic masterpiece design created by industrial master Naoto Fukasawa, a product developer and designer at Japanese retail company MUJI.
The color, Soda Blue, is very vibrant and youthful(So cute!!! ????- also available in White Milk and Green Tea variants), It has undergone a rare spray coating process and polished hundreds of times. And as a result, the back of the phone shows an advanced matte visual “holographic” effect which is very unique and pleasing to the eye. (Please see the photo above.)
DISPLAY
realme 6i has 16.5cm (6.5’’) Mini-Drop FullScreen and an with a 89.8% screen-to-body ratio which makes it good for watching movies and playing games. Compared to my realme 5 Pro, realme 6i looks slimmer with a 20:9 screen ratio and is easier to grip.
Moving on, realme UI is based on Android 10 that can give its users an enhanced Android experience. In terms of colors, realme UI uses high-saturation and high-brightness colors. Though I observed that there were rough edges on the icons, fonts and graphics, but it is just fine as long as it does not affect my entire smartphone experience. I believe these issues are very understandable given that realme 6i is an entry-level, budget-friendly phone. If you want a more defined graphics, go for the higher models like realme 6 or 6 Pro
And since I am using this phone for hours and hours for watching and gaming, this phone’s Eye Care mode is my eyes’ savior. This feature can adjust the screen’s color temperature up to reduce the blue light radiation, preventing eye strain.
CAMERA
Let’s start with the front camera. I’m not a fan of taking selfie photos, I’m camera shy and it is hard for me to project myself because I feel awkward about it.Then I tested my realme 6i’s 16MP In-display Selfie Camera… and so, my selfie adventure begins and I love it. Hahhaa!(Don’t worry I will not flood your feed with my selfies)????????????
I took shots with normal, and with Bautification/HDR Mode(on and off). Please see the comparison among the photos above. Since i’m shooting outdoors and the sun is up and very bright, the HDR feature(also available in rear camera) gave me more defined photos especially the background. Beautification mode is one of realme 6i’s camera features, so having blemishes will not be a problem(unless they are super prominent).
You can also take photos on different frame size, this applies for both back and front cameras: 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and Full frame. Plus, you can use color scheme filters to add drama to your photo.

As for the rear camera, realme 6i boasts the latest flagship, ultra-clear quad camera setup, comprised of a 48MP main camera, an 8MP 119° ultra wide-angle, a macro lens and a B&W portrait lens.
It can also detect automatically different scenes such as Green Plants, Kitty, Macro, Text, Puppy, Scenery and more. In all fairness, the photo quality is really good for its price point. It displays real colors and textures.
The depth of field for portrait and macro shot is above average. You just need to position the subject correctly on a certain angle to get that nice blurry background.
Check out some sample photos of the rear camera below.

PERFORMANCE
realme 6i uses Helio G80 chipset, delivering astonishing power. The octa-core CPU has a main frequency, up to 2.0GHz, offering 35% better single-core performance and 17% better multi-core performance than the previous generation. The Mali G52 1000MHz GPU also delivers 25% better performance. The result is greater image quality and a more stable frame rate so no lags and less crash experience for its users.
BATTERY TEST
My most favorite feature of realme 6i is the battery. It is equipped with 5,000mAh non-removable battery which is the largest battery capacity on realme’s recent smartphone line up. It also has a triple safety protection which eases concerns for a smartphone battery life. WOW! 5,000mAh!
Honestly, I am really impressed with realme 6i’s battery performance. If you are a heavy user, and don’t want to charge from time to time, this smartphone is a must-have because it can really last longer hours.
So here’s my observation on the superb battery life of realme 6i. Let’s start with the charging.
So I started charging my realme 6i phone at around 1:25PM(started at 0%) using the 9V/2A charging kit. Since realme 6i phones have 18W Quick Charge feature that raises charging speed and reduces charging time, I was able to fully charge it at 4:42PM. Just nearly 4 hours of charging. Well, considering the battery capacity which is 5,000mAh, it is quite fast.
FAST CHARGING TIP: I also tried charging it using my VOOC charger from my realme 5 pro and it is much faster. If you have one, you can use it as well for a lesser charging time.
Now I took the 5,000mAh battery to test and stressed it out for one whole day to see how long it will last. Volume Up from 75%-100%, screen brightness to 75% to full level, high resolution graphics, connected to wifi/hotspot, bluetooth on, and more. So I played Mobile Legends for hours, browsed social media, streamed movies, took several photos using the front and back camera, watched youtube videos, searched on the web, and watched live selling online. This is with minimal screen rest time.
The result: WOW! 9 hours and 29 minutes of screen time with 1% power left that can still last for 5 mins! And I think if you will turn on the Power Saver option it will be longer. How cool is that right? I LOVE IT!!!
And look how long this phone’s battery go… After my second full charge, with very minimal usage and almost on standby, I was really surprised on how many days this phone lasted with just single charging. Six(6) days 10 hours and 10 mins, 19% power left that could last for 4 hours and 48 mins.(or maybe more if I will not use it)
I could say that this phone is a good smartphone to use when you are traveling or if you are a heavy smartphone user like me because of its superb battery life. Just imagine how many things you can do with this phone without the worry of getting that low battery notification from several times a day. No more frequent charging.
I have reviewed several smartphone and realme 6i surpassed my expectations. This is the best so far when it comes to battery capacity, plus it can take very decent and nice photos as well. All of these amazing features just under 10K price point. Php7,990(3GB RAM + 64GB) and Php9,990(4GB RAM + 128GB).
realme 6i is available in Shopee, Lazada, and all realme kiosks nationwide.
