Now that it is officially launched here in the Philippines, realme’s partner brand, DIZO, is here to introduce its product line-up that will surely fit every lifestyle when it comes to music, gaming and more.
Just recently, DIZO sent me two of their TWS products which are DIZO Wireless and DIZO Buds Z. (Thank you DIZO❤️)But in this blog, I will solely concentrate on my actual usage experience of the DIZO Buds Z and I’m really excited to share them with you so that I can help you decide whether to buy or not to buy this newest TWS device in PH market.
Since I love playing games on my smartphone like Mobile Legends and watching movies from online platforms like Netflix etc., this Buds Z from DIZO is something that may come in handy for a better listening, and gaming experience anytime, anywhere.
WHAT’S INSIDE THE BOX?
- DIZO Buds Z Charging case
- 1 Pair earphone(L &R)
- Type-C charging cable
- Ear Tips(1 pair small size, 1 pair medium-already pre-installed in the buds, and 1 pair Large)
- User Manual/warranty card
DESIGN:
Out of the box, the DIZO Buds Z charging case looks very compact and neat. It has that cobble-like design that has a smooth matte finish. You’ll find the USB Type-C port for charging at the bottom and on front you’ll see the DIZO logo below the LED indicator.
What I like about the charging case is that it is small enough(6.4 x 5.1 x 2.6 cm size) to carry around and can fit your purse or your pocket comfortably. You can even flick it open and close it even just by using one hand.
It is also available in 3 colors, Leaf, Onyx(the one that I got), and Pearl.
As for the earbuds. Oh wow! they look stunning! I fell in love with it the moment I opened the charging case. It has that elegant, eye-catching, and shiny finish that reflects light in multiple colors on different angles. At the bottom part, you’ll find the charging pins. The front panel has touch controls where you can use for media controls(music, movies), accept or decline a call, and switch between modes.
When docked, these gorgeous pair of earbuds are securely held in place inside the charging case even when being held upside down. Big thanks to its strong magnetic latching system.
Each earbuds weigh about 3.7g each, lightweight enough for you to feel very comfortable even when being worn for long hours-so I think its very ergonomic. It is made of plastic though, but it’s ok. The earbuds are easy to wear and does not easily fall off even with sudden movements or doing workouts.
PAIRING/CONNECTIVITY
The DIZO buds Z uses Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and pairing with a phone or laptop was a breeze. Flicking the charging case open activates pairing mode, just make sure that your device’s(smartphone, laptop, tablet) Bluetooth is turned on. You can pair it manually via bluetooth settings or via google pair or a”dd the device” in the realme Link App.
Once paired, the Buds Z automatically connects to the paired device upon opening the charging case. To use it on other device simply disconnect or unpair the buds to the current paired device and that the time it can be detected by other devices.
The DIZO Buds Z can be used as far as 10 meters away from the paired smartphone. With this feature, I can still listen to music, take calls and just leave my smartphone on a certain distance.
CUSTOMIZATION:
Customizing the DIZO Buds’ intelligent touch control can be done through the realme Link App. I’ve been using this app for years and as always, it is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Within the app, I can adjust the settings of the earbuds’ smart-touch controls manually according to my preference and convenience. The smart-touch controls worked well and is responsive with occasional hits and misses.
In the app, you can choose the sound effects that you like such as Bass Boost +, Dynamic, and Bright. When listening to music, or playing games, I preferred the Dynamic mode which has just enough bass. You can turn on the volume enhancer feature to add an extra boost of volume. There’s also Game Mode which enhances audio and video synchronization. Its 88ms Super Low Latency definitely works, as I hardly see any un-synch sound and video while playing Mobile Legends.
The realme Link app also lets you monitor the battery level of the earbuds(you can also see it in the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone).
SOUND QUALITY:
As for the sound quality, the Buds Z delivers averagely clear vocals with above average bass output(thanks to the 10 mm dynamic drivers equipped within each earbuds) which makes music and video playback more enjoyable. It lacks in crispness though, but still very audible and acceptable.
For the call sound quality, the reception from my end when indoors is clear enough for me to understand what the person on the other line is saying. The snug fit in-ear design also helps as it provides passive noise cancellation which blocks out most(not totally) ambient or “hiss” noises and sounds while listening to music or making calls. The microphone is equipped with Environmental Noise Cancellation(ENC), which gives an average performance. It works pretty well indoors, but if you’re outdoors or in a noisy environment, your voice can sound too distant over calls and you can hear a bit of ambient sounds pretty easily despite ENC.
Then again, this is a budget-friendly TWS audio device, so I’m not expecting it to be at par with higher models and expensive ones. Overall, the audio performance of the Buds Z is good for its price.
BATTERY LIFE/CHARGING
Each earbud is powered by a 43mAh battery and the charging case packs a 380mAh battery which DIZO claims to have a battery life of 16.5 hours of total playback combined(case and buds. 4.5 hours for each buds). Of course this could be more or less depending on your usage. I played Mobile Legends for about 1 1/2 hours or less, started at 100% battery level- Game Mode activated. After playing, I checked the battery level again-at 70%. Max test, the earbuds lasted for about 4 hours and 10 minutes at 50-70% volume usage. By the way, the case can provide about 3 charging cycles for the earbuds, so I think that’s enough juice for you to enjoy watching movies, listening to music or playing games throughout the day.
The charging case can be charged via Type-C USB port which is good since my smartphone uses a Type C cable as well. So no more extra cables to carry for me. For the buds, it takes about an hour to charge them fully from the charging case. The Buds Z do support fast charging where a 10-minute charge can last the buds for about 1.5 hours which is equivalent to 80 minutes playback.
VERDICT:
Overall, considering the build quality, amazing design, how ergonomically comfortable it is in the ear, including the decent sound quality and call performance, the DIZO Buds Z is a good choice for your everyday entertainment for just under the Php 2,000 price range.
