In this techie generation where mobile photography is at its peak, it is really evident that smartphone brands are in the battle of providing its consumers the best camera features they can offer. And realme, the number 1 smartphone brand in the Philippines, did a pretty good job in this matter by releasing a new and powerful smartphone line-up, the realme 8 Series, that will offer users a full realme TechLife experience.
In this blog, I would like to share with you 8 camera features that I love about the realme 8 Pro. So here they are.
1: 16MP SELFIE CAMERA PORTRAIT MODE
Did some “sariling sikap” portait shots and here they are. Yes, I took these photos all by myself. Thanks to my sturdy tripod, a couple of light boxes, an old dark-colored cloth for my background, my 8 Pro front camera’s 10-second timer and 16MP front camera. I also used some built-in filters to give each photo a different look and ambiance. There are a lot of filters to choose from such as Original, Fresh, Clear, Warm, Mist, Country, Travel, Food, Cool, Forest, City, Vintage, Autumn, Gray, Fade, and B&W.
It’s just amazing how a 16 MP front camera can take good quality selfie shots like these. At a glance you would think that these were taken from a studio. You can even adjust the bokeh percentage to give you that depth of field blur effect. Beautification is still a feature in the 8 Pro just like in any realme smartphones. Other filters are also available like Film, B&W, Tokyo, Sweet, Time and Paris.

2. DYNAMIC BOKEH, NEON, AND AI COLOR PORTRAIT FILTERS
If you find the front camera’s portrait shots amazing, you will love the rear camera portrait shots even more especially when you use these three unique filters available in realme 8 Pro.
- Dynamic Bokeh which gives you a motion blur effect for backdrop.
- AI color portrait that has colored subject, but monochrome background effect
- Neon Portrait which allows background to have a neon-like, “dreamy” effect.
With these three cool filters, You don’t need to worry much about your background. These filters will make you focus on the subject more while giving a nice background perspective.
There are other filters available too such as Original, Film, B&W, Tokyo, Sweet, Time, Paris, and Portrait which you can use even on normal mode to make your captured photos more appealing
3. DUAL-VIDEO MODE
The Dual-Video mode is so spot on!. realme 8 Pro uses both front and rear camera to give two different views in one single video. This is perfect for those who are vlogging, making reaction videos, and doing product demonstration/reviews. Check out the video above for the sample video.
4. NIGHT MODE
Now you can actually take photos on dim or poorly-lit environment with photo output from almost pitch black to a recognizable one. That is what realme 8 Pro’s Night mode feature can do. It also has built-in Super Nightscape mode which can give a visible and detailed photo even at night time. Thanks to these three technologies the ISOCELL Plus, Smart-ISO and 9-in-1 Pixel Binning. If you want more control on the photo settings, there’s ‘Pro’ mode where you can manually adjust the ISO, shutter speed, white balance, focus, etc.
Check out the photos above for comparison.
5. STARRY MODE VIDEO
Make your star-gazing experience digital as you can now capture it on video (photo also available)through realme 8 Pro’s Starry Mode, the world’s and Philippine’s first kind of feature on a smartphone.
So I set the timer to maximum which is 240mins(4 hours) and got amazing video result(see video above). Timer preset time is also available in 60 mins, 90 mins and 120 mins, but I suggest you choose the max time setting for a longer video clip.
How do this feature works? The Starry mode takes 16 individual photos every 15s for 4mins, and then the algorithm combines them into a final picture. The phone will take starry photos at the same 15s interval, but will only keep the last 15 photos to compose a starry picture, and finally combine these photos into a time-lapse video at a speed of 30fps.
Just a tip, to better get a stable video/photo, I suggest that you should use a tripod. And make sure that you shoot on clear skies(not cloudy).
6. TILT-SHIFT MODE
Turn the real world into a miniature one with the 8 Pro’s Tilt-Shift Mode. This is one of the unique camera features of realme 8 Pro that will add up creativity if you are into mobile photography. You can actually adjust the shape(round and landscape), angle, position, and size of blur effect manually to suit the scene. Tilt-shift Mode also supports shooting time-lapse videos with 10x playback.
Check out how the Tilt-Shift mode works in this video. (2:14 min. mark)
7. AI Scene Recognition
There’s no doubt that realme 8 Pro’s rear camera can produce very nice quality photos. If you want the photo output to to look more enhanced and has more color vibrancy and vivid details, just turn on the AI Scene Recognition. Check out the photos above for comparison. You can see the difference of the photo output on both photos- normal shot on the left, and on the right, AI Scene Recognition is activated.
This feature is available to use on 8 Pro’s default camera and 108MP mode. Click photo for full view. To see actual high resolution image for better comparison, click here.
8. 108MP Shooting Mode
And of course, the much talked about feature of the realme 8 Pro… its 108MP camera! Can you believe it? 108MP on a smartphone’s camera. Just imagine the quality of photos that it can produce. 8 Pro’s rear quad-camera is consist of 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 2MP sensor for bokeh and macro photography.
And with the dedicated 108MP shooting mode, the color saturation, reproduction and texture are very much on point especially on well-lit environment. And if you turn on the the AI Enhancement feature, it will give you a more vivid and color-pop photo results. At a glance, you would think that photos were taken using a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. Clear, detailed, and has very nice depth of field.
By the way, photos using the 108MP mode has a maximum resolution of 12000×9000, so expect a bigger file size on each photo. But realme 8 Pro can surely handle it, since it has 128GB built-in storage capacity and expandable up to 256GB through SD Card.
