Are you tired of putting the same old “I’m gonna lose weight” or “Balik Alindog” in your ultimate fitness goals’ list? Do you feel that after trying so hard working out or minimizing your food intake, still, you are gaining or not losing weight?
In an era where we catalog our every moment on social media—feeling great, being in the best shape, and sleeping well seem to be the luxuries we seek to enjoy… and flaunt.
And we’re not just talking about the gym buffs and yogis anymore. Young, aspirational, and career-driven Filipinos are shifting their goals—as well as their spending—from material things to experiences to personal transformations, where a better version of themselves is the be-all and end-all. People are increasingly getting into fitness classes and activities that improve their well-being. This is not a trend. Eating healthy and securing one’s health is a lifestyle choice.
No more excuses!
But you already know that, right? Why else would “Enroll in a gym” or “Start eating healthy” or “Run a marathon” be in your bucket list for the past year(s)? Exercise is one of the very few things available to every single person, regardless of gender or economic status. Yet, every single person has—finds—an excuse not to, or at least not to get fit at the moment.
They say getting started on any project or goal requires motivating yourself to overcome inertia or inaction. Writing “I need to get back to my ideal weight” in your bucket list is the first step but it’s not the last. Next step, is actually doing it.
Get Coached!
If you can’t do it on your own, then don’t be ashamed to get some help, whether it’s a friend who have already started on the journey or the buff coworker, two cubicles away. Or it wouldn’t hurt, too, if you can get fitness coaches to do the roll call. How about getting celebrity fitness trainers Jim and Toni Saret of “The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition” fame and cable TV wellness show “Metabeats”?
Well, it’s not entirely improbable to get the proponents of the FitFil National Weight Loss Challenge and fitness leads of FWD Live to Move fitness parties to help you.
You can get Coach Jim and Coach Toni to personally create a fitness program for you via FWD Life Philippines’ bucket list contest on Facebook.

Take Control!
If you’re serious about getting fit, then do something about it. Put your heart and mind into it. Not in tomorrow’s (or whenever you feel you’ll be ready to start) fitness routine, but in today’s workout. Not in your future well-being, but in your well-being now. You are how you move. You are what you eat. You are how you balance being healthy and enjoying life. So stop making excuses and start making moments!
