God has designed the human body like a finely tuned instrument and If we don’t take good care of it, it will surely wear off and eventually be out of tune.

People nowadays are living in a very busy, fast paced life. We introduce stress, vices and other unhealthy health practices to our body. When our health starts to breakdown, we quickly begin to question our habits and diet. We tend to find something that will cure us and will bring our body back again to its maximum potential.

We can do this by changing our lifestyle. With proper exercise paired with the right and healthy food, achieving optimum health is very much possible.
Personally, it has always been my goal to live healthy because I want to live longer and stronger. My fiancé’ and I even enrolled to one of the known fitness facilities in the metro to reach that goal to fitness but there’s one thing that hinders me… My appetite for food and that include my food choices. And so I research and research until I read about organic farming and its benefits.

Before, when I go to supermarket and buy fresh fruits and vegetables, all I know was as long as it looks good and fresh it is healthy already. It is a wrong notion because all of those were conventionally grown crops and are showered with chemical fertilizers/pesticides making the fruits and vegetables that we are seeing on the racks of supermarkets or public markets (except to the organic section fruits and vegetables) look perfect and fresh but these fruits and vegetables were in fact contain less nutrients and dangerous to health compared to the organically grown crops. Why?, because as I said earlier, conventionally grown food uses chemical fertilizers/pesticides which is harmful to humans when they consume it , harmful to the environment, and even harmful to the farmers who practice conventional or traditional way of farming due to exposure to these chemical fertilizers/pesticides.

Organic farming practices does not allow the use of harmful chemical pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, etc. For these reasons organic produce can be said to be safe for human health and consumption. It may not look as perfect and shiny as conventional ones, but they taste the same or even better. To add to that, Organic farming does not pollute the soil thus producing highly nutritious and healthy crops.
With the growing number of people shifting to a healthier lifestyle, Organic Farming became a hit for good business, investment, and a choice for good food intake.
One example is the Garden of Life located at Mountain Province, Benguet.
Owned by Mr. Felix Tan, a practitioner of alternative medicine , and a former trainee of Mr. Pat Acosta owner of The Master’s Garden. (Find out here: http://girlandboything.com/features/organic-agriculture-a-booming-business-in-the-philippines/)
The Garden of Life is a 1500 square meter land which promotes “Raw food diet” raising mostly Anti-Cancer crops.
The farm uses grass compost to feed their soil in order to raise good and healthy crops.
Vermiculture(earthworm farming) is another way of this farm to maintain the richness of the soil. Vermicompost is an excellent, nutrient-rich organic fertilizer and excellent soil conditioner. It is scientifically proving as ‘miracle growth promoter & also plant protector’ from pests and diseases.
The organic certified farm also produce other vegetables, culinary herbs and medicinal herbs like the following:
Wheatgrass– used for increasing production of hemoglobin, the chemical in redblood cells that carries oxygen. Improves blood sugar disorders, such as diabetes, prevents tooth decay, improves wound healing and prevents bacterial infections.
Dora Plant– Good for liver problems.
Rosemarie– used as a decorative plant in gardens and has many culinary and medical uses. The plant is said to improve the memory. The leaves are used to flavor various foods, such as stuffings and roast meats.
Serpentina – Good for fever, diabetes.
Ashitaba- good for blood circulation 4-6 leaves a day, natural viagra”a powerful tonic drug.” In folk medicine it is claimed to be diuretic, tonic, to improve digestion, and, when applied topically, to speed wound healing and prevent infection.
Knowing these facts about Organic produce/herbs made me realize more and encouraged me of shifting to a more healthier lifestyle especially on how to pick and choose the right food. It should be “Organic” . The more natural the food is the more it is healthy.
Be Healthy, CHOOSE ORGANIC!!!
