Before I started to write this article, I can’t help myself but cry when I think about how good my mom is to us. I know that she sacrificed a lot. She always find ways, by God’s grace, to give us what we need – like preparing food on our table amidst her busy and tiring work. She worked hard to send us to good school. She provided for our needs and wants – and continually does up. She was also there to take care of us when we were sick.
My mom does these things wholeheartedly, without expecting anything in return. That is why I considered my mom as my hero. She is, literally, WonderWoman in real life.
I know that my Mom loves us so much that she is willing to give it all, just to see us happy and doing well in life.
Truly, a mother’s love is the perfect example on how God defines “LOVE”.
Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous; is not proud; is not conceited; does not act foolishly; is not selfish; is not easily provoked to anger; keeps no record of wrongs; takes no pleasure in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. ~I Corinthians 13:4-7
While reading this passage in the bible, it really hit me that my Mom is an epitome of a good and loving mother. She may not be that showy when it comes to affection, but I realized that for so many years, since I was a child and even before I was born, she took care of me the best way she knew. As I grow older and mature, I begin to realize more and more of the sacrifices my Mom made for me… for us.
With her busy schedule, my mom always find time to bond with us and a big part of that bonding is cooking. Well, of course, for us girls. 🙂
My Mom and I love to cook and we share the same passion for food. I believe she learned how to cook from my grandmother… her mom. And then my Mom taught me about most of the dishes that I cook now. Starting from techniques in buying ingredients to the supermarket, to cooking, to preparation and of course eating. 🙂
I never had the chance to say THANK YOU to my Mom for everything that she has done for me and our family. That is why in my own special and little way, with the help of my sister, we surprise our Mom with a simple THANK YOU/Pre-Mother’s Day Dinner.
A Dinner full of love, appreciation and thanksgiving for a very special person, our hero… Our Mom.
So here’s a rundown of our preparation up to the day of the surprise THANK YOU/Advance Mother’s Day Dinner. So here it is…
Our Plan:
So this will be the look of our dining area on the day of our surprise thank you dinner. 🙂 I’m not good in drawing stuff so just use your imagination hahahah! But there might be additional changes later on.
My litte sister was very kind enough to help me with the preparation. We started doing the “thank you” banner and the balloons. Even our fur babies(Kenshin & Frodo) are there for support hihihi 🙂 .
And now decorating our dining area already.
Here’s the aftermath… We will just spread the balloons later 🙂
Time to cook! Pardon for my look hahaha! It’s kinda hot in our kitchen(dirty kitchen) because I was cooking already so I’m kinda sweaty 🙂
So here are the dishes that I prepared for my mom…
Sweet and Sour Pork
Chicken Cubes with Asparagus
Beef with Broccoli
Calamares
Prawn Crackers
And my partner in making most of the dishes that we will be serving at the surprise dinner… ELECTROLUX Glass Gas Stove.
The time has come…. For the SURPRISE!!!
My mom just came from work and we knew that she was tired. Seeing that smile on her face as we surprised her, really made my heart cry for joy.
THANK YOU MOMMY…
Thank you Mom for everything that you have done for us:
– For not giving up on us inspite of the heartaches, headaches and shortcomings. For always being there to support us.
– For loving us unconditionally even if we don’t deserve your love.
– For being graciously attending to our needs, even if we are already grown ups.
– For always praying for us and guiding us to be better individuals.
Actually, I have so many things to be thankful for because you are my Mom. I may not say this often but I want you to know that I LOVE YOU SO MUCH MOMMY! VERY VERY MUCH!.
God knows that. I’m really blessed to have you as my Mom. And I were to choose my mother, I would always choose you as my Mom – even after life, if that is possible in heaven.
