SM Mall of Asia Arena, the newest state-of-the-art 20,000 full seating capacity venue in the Philippines, held its grand launch last June 16, 2012 with the concert “ICONS at the Mall of Asia Arena”
Not just that, MoA Arena also offers Corporate Suites, VIP- level services and amenities and a vast of food and merchandise.
To start off, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held, initiated and participated by Mr. Hans T. Sy, President for SM Prime Holdings accompanied by his family. Also present in the ceremony were Vice President Jejomar Binay, Ogie Alcasid, Jim Pardes, Charo Santos and Gabby Lopez.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the concert started. Thousands of people gathered to watch this much awaited concert.

Singing hit songs of Jose Marie Chan, as a tribute to the singer-songwriter. The CompanY, Christian Bautista and Jose Marie Chan himself. The Company performed Jose Marie Chan’s first hit, “Can We Just Stop and Talk Awhile,” followed by “Tell Me Your Name” sung by Christian Bautista. and the singer-songwriter himself Jose Marie Chan with one of his greatest hits “Beautiful Girl.”
The medley that followed pays tribute to Louie Ocampo, performed by powerhouse singers Rachel Alejandro “Yakapin Mo Ako”, Dulce “Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin” and Verni Verga “Kahit Isang Saglit”. And the three powerhouse voices ended with the song “Ikaw”
Freddie Aguilar performed his biggest hit “Anak”, which is known worldwide, which lyrics are translated in multiple languages.
Another artist to pay tribute is Ogie Alcasid, making wonderful love songs that inspired a lot of Filipinos, which are also used by known teleserye in the country. Singing a medley of Ogie Alcasid hits are Richard Poon, Jed Madela, Juris and piolo Pascual.
The Songbird and the Songwriter, real life husband and wife, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid is really a good combination in terms of music. Singing a medley of some of Ogies hits. “Pangarap Ko Ay Ibigin Ka”, “Hanggang Ngayon”, “Magpakailan pa man”
To break the ice, 3 of Philippine’s known comedian showed their wits and funny antics making the audience laugh their hearts out…
Rock artist Bamboo, rocked the arena with his song “Pinoy Ako”. backed-up with the G-Force dancers.
International icons Lea Salonga and Journey singer Arnel Pineda performed a medley – “Don’t Know What To Do, Don’t Know What To Say,” “I think I’m in Love,” “Hold On,” “Till I Met You” and “You.” Three of the best male vocals in the country, Erik Santos, Basil Valdez, and Martin Nievera sang Ryan Cayabyab’s Nais Kong Lumipad, George Canseco’s Bituing Walang Ningning and Willy Cruz’s May Minamahal.
