What is #HowIFly Movement?
#HowIFly Movement is an online movement initiated by AirAsia, the world’s best low cost carrier, to inspire, enable, and empower travellers.
Representatives and officers from Sibaltan Heritage Council led by its president Enrico Cabiguen; OceanQuest Southeast Asia training director and conservation photographer Reggie Reyes; DOT Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Eden David; and AirAsia CEO Comendador signed the #HowIFly travel manifesto to signify their commitment to the project.
To kick-off the campaign, Air Asia features three short stories about the majestic beauty and challenges brought about by the recent forest fire that hit Mt. Apo in Davao, the marine protection and conservation in Cebu, and community-based sustainable tourism initiatives in Palawan.
Travelling is fun. I’ve been to several tourist locations here in the Philippines and abroad. Seeing different norms, people, culture, destinations and many more can really make a traveller’s life really worthwhile. But of course, as a traveller, we have to be responsible with our own actions. We should always remember that we are only visitors to these places and we should act responsibly and pay respect.
The #HowIFly Movement is a reminder to all of us to always be mindful of the nature, wildlife and community aspects of the places we’re visiting. How we choose to fly and travel will affect them in the most positive way and with that we are definitely sure that we will still be able to enjoy and sustain these tourist destinations for years and years to come.
“#HowIFly calls for responsible travel, and the value of generating a positive impact on communities, wildlife, and the environment. Over 1.5 billion travellers are expected to travel each year by 2020, and we have the power to change our world by simply becoming aware and responsible of our actions. More than an airline operator, AirAsia is a company that understands people and the true needs of discerning travellers. We recently gave travellers new reasons to explore new ground with the #WhyIFly campaign, an initiative set on driving more people to pursue their travel goals and spread the love of storytelling through beautiful photographs and hims. Now, we shift from inspiring travel to steering these travellers towards more responsible ways of traveling with #HowIFly,” said Philippines Air-Asia’s CEO Dexter Comendador.
