It was almost a week-long celebration of creativity in Philippine visual arts– painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and film-making. Lucky for us, constituents of San Mateo and nearby areas, that we were able to see and appreciate the wonderful works of our fellow Rizalenos at the recent stop of My City, My SM, My Art in SM City San Mateo.
My City, My SM, My Art campaign aims to bring art and people together by showcasing the works of masters, modernists, and millennials in a roadshow around the SM Supermalls. Advocating art for all, SM is working with communities to mount art exhibits, workshops, and contests in key cities around the Philippines.
I love this campaign. Through these kind of roadshows, many people will see different artistic works, making it more accessible and inspiring. Not only that, this is also to show our whole nation and the world that the new generation of Filipino artists are good too in making such exquisite work of art.
During the Grand Exhibit Launch of My City, My SM, My Art, Rizaleno artists were introduced in a special video presentation and were given recognition for representing Rizal in the field of art. You must be curious who the featured Rizaleno artists were at the SM City San Mateo’s My City, My SM, My Art exhibit which ran from September 1-5, 2017? please see the list below.
- Rembrandt Vocalan
- Franz Marion Vocalan
- Samahan ng mga Litratista sa Rizal
- Kish Javier
- Lucky Salayog
- Edrick Daniel
- Daniel Aligaen
- Blanco Family
I was truly amazed on how these kind of people created such beautiful works. The concept, keen details, and the stories behind their creations. I wonder how they do it simply from their rich imagination , and transform those ideas into a wonderful piece of art.
My City, My SM, My Art is a joint project of SM, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, the Shell Companies of the Philippines, and the Philippine Star, with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Centerstage Productions.
