In a major effort to promote disaster preparedness, M Lhuillier has launched a unique project that underscores the importance of being ready in times of emergency. Their slogan, “Iba Na Ang Laging Handa!” highlights the urgency of preparedness, especially in communities prone to disasters. This project was developed in partnership with students from Batangas State University, giving them the chance to apply their design and problem-solving skills while making a meaningful contribution to society.
At the heart of this initiative is the “tabloat,” an innovative device that transforms from a table into a boat, providing a critical resource for rescue operations during floods and storms. The “tabloat” not only aids in disaster response but also helps local communities by supporting economic activities such as fishing and salt production. This project specifically focuses on Barangay San Rafael in Noveleta, Cavite, a barangay often affected by floods due to rising water levels.
M Lhuillier delivered three “tabloat” units to local families, who expressed deep gratitude for the lifesaving resource. Many pointed out that the “tabloat” will be especially valuable when evacuating during severe flooding. Beyond its function as a disaster preparedness tool, the “tabloat” also supports local livelihoods in sectors such as fishing and salt production.
Beyond the “tabloat” units, the M Lhuillier team also provided essential disaster preparedness materials, such as tote bags, backpacks, towels, and cellphone cases. They distributed flyers with crucial disaster response information, helping the community gain the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe in emergencies.
Jocelyn Concepcion, a local resident, expressed her heartfelt thanks: “Maraming salamat sa inyo, M Lhuillier! Napakalaking tulong nito sa kabuhayan namin.” Her gratitude underscores how this project not only addresses immediate needs but also supports long-term community resilience.
