First of all, I would like to say that this Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive in Creamy Peach Review is NOT a sponsored post. I actually bought the product from a known online store in the Philippines. So everything that you will be reading here in this post were honestly based on my actual usage and other facts. So here we go…
Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive. Found this product on my search for organic make-up brands and got curious when I saw the price. P80.00. Yes you read it right. This lip and cheek stain costs just that. It is a Filipino brand and is cruelty-free.
Surprisingly, for the price mentioned, Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive has a pretty decent packaging.(in-fairness hindi cheap-looking). The lip and cheek tint solution is contained in a small glass container with a transparent sticker of the brand’s label and other information such as product description and ingredients.
Ingredients are also indicted on the box such as:
- Distilled water
- Glycerine
- Food Grade Propylene Glycol
- Food Grade colorant
- Bentonite Clay
- Zinc oxide
- Fragrance
- Phenoxyethanol
This product claims to be an all-natural makeup. However, when I searched about some of the ingredients included, it comes to my knowledge that it’s not completely “natural” at all.
Just to mention one, its content Phenoxyethanol does not sound “Natural” to me. When I searched about it, Phenoxyethanol is a “synthetic” preservative which is used as a preservative for cosmetic products and as a stabilizer in perfumes and soaps.
It is also found in most beauty regimen products such as follows – Moisturizer, eye shadow, foundation, sunscreen, conditioner, mascara, eye liner, shampoo, lip gloss, concealer, body wash, hand cream, blush, hair color, hair spray, lip balm, lotion, nail polish, baby wipes, baby lotions and soaps, soap (liquid and bar), shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, hair removal waxes, hand sanitizer and ultrasound gel.(Source: safecosmetics.org)
A study in the International Journal of Toxicology claims that the low percentage of phenoxyethanol used in cosmetic products (generally two percent or below) is safe and non-toxic. However, the European Commission on cosmetic ingredients stipulates that phenoxyethanol is toxic when applied to the lips or around the mouth, which is concerning. In addition, the FDA placed a warning to nursing mothers about using a brand of nipple cream that contained phenoxyethanol, stating that it could cause vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and central nervous system problems in infants.(Source: wellnesstoday.com)
Well, since Phenoxyethanol is practically in every beauty product that we are using, I would say that you just “buy at your own risk”. If you are a full-pledged organic product user, then always read the label first.
Moving on. You will never miss the expiration date of this product because Skin Genie stated the date on the box. Mine will expire on October 2019. The expiration date can only be seen in the box and not on the label of the bottle, so I suggest that you just write the expiry date on the bottle to keep you reminded.
When I opened the box, I can already smell the sweet scent of Lip and Cheek Stain Alive. It has a melon-like scent that is so tempting to taste. Really! It smells good. Tasted it and it’s kinda sweet 🙂
The product is contained in a 10-ml glass bottle with rollerball applicator. It’s non-spilling and is not hard to roll on my lips and cheeks.
I only bought one to try which I think best suited for my skin tone… the Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain Alive Creamy Peach.
AS A LIP STAIN:
I tried using it on my lips. Surprisingly, it is highly pigmented. It’s more on a reddish shade than peachy tone. But since I have uneven lip color, the stain tends to settle on the middle of my lips(just the lighter part-please refer to photos above). Don’t expect full coverage. Well, maybe if you have a lighter lip color then it might.
There’s also a chance that it will stain your teeth a bit. But don’t worry, it will eventually fade after a few seconds/minutes. I suggest that you just damp it little by little.
As a lip tint, Skin Genie’s Lip and Cheek Stain Alive Creamy Peach is not for me. But I would want to try some other shades.
AS A CHEEK STAIN:
Super love this creamy peach shade on my cheeks andactually suits my skin tone ! it gave me a sun-kissed blush look. Just in case you need to retouch, you can always bring it and carry in your purse since it is so handy and small.
By the way, if you don’t want to stain your fingers when applying this product on you cheeks, I suggest that you use a sponge applicator.
As of today there are 16 shades available under Skin Genie’s Lip and Cheek Stain Alive line namely:
- Creamy Peach
- Tulip Red
- Sunset Orange
- Love Letter
- Heart
- Christmas red
- Raspberry
- Tramp
- Eggplant
- Villain
- Burgundy Wine
- Tan brown
- Merlot
- Flirt
- Cherry Pink
- Rose Pink
You can enjoy these wide-array of lip and cheek stains based on your mood and preferred look. And the best part is that it will not put a hole in your wallet and will not ruin your budget because it is made affordable for just P80!.
Hello! Creamy peach was given to me as a gift by my friend then when I tried to apply it my family said it looked like I ate cheese curls T-T
I agree. I will not use it as a lip tint because it only covered the lighter part of my lips(As ssen in the photo on this article) but as a cheek tint, I like it and it suits me.
