Moving on, as part of the Althea Angels’ Community, I got the first dibs on this newest product from the Althea brand. They sent me this package to try and it came with 3 variants of their Althea Petal Velvet Powder. And not just that. It also came with a very cute holographic pouch which I already used for my makeup brushes .:) Thank you so much Althea!
Let’s concentrate on ALTHEA PETAL VELVET SUNAWAY. With the blazing heat coming from the sun(and is getting hotter due to global warming), our skin badly needs protection. Just imagine the sun’s harmful rays striking though your skin and how it can badly damage it. Scary right? How’s that for pre-mature aging, wrinkles, sunburn, and worse… skin cancer! But why suffer from these skin issues if you can at least lessen the possible damages, if you can’t prevent it from happening.
ALTHEA PETAL VELVET SUNAWAY has SPF 50+ PA++++ and uses non-chemical formula with a light, fluid texture to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. You’ll know more about the product as you read further.
As always, Althea maintains the minimalist look when it comes to packaging. The size is not that big which is very favorable, because you can easliy put it in your bag without being too bulky and you can bring it anywhere just in case you need to re-apply.
I like the bottle’s pointed tip, it’s easier to control the amount of product being squeezed out. The consistency is not sticky which I lpreferred especially that i’m going to apply it on my face before makeup or as is. The scent smells quite similar to the usual sunblocks in the market, but it has a floral hint in it which is from the Damask rose extracts.
WHAT IS DAMASK ROSE?
Damask rose has a natural nano-molecular composition that is rich in vitamins to penetrate deep into the skin which soothes sensitivities and strengthens it for a radiant glow.
Let’sproceed with the application part. Make sure to shake the bottle well before you squeeze out its content. When you shake it you will hear that there’s something inside aside from the liquid. Yes, there’s a metal ball inside to mix the contents evenly.
Apply a generous layer evenly onto the face- in the morning or before sun exposure.
So here’s my look BEFORE Petal Velvet Sunaway application(1st photo on the left), and AFTER application(right photo). Don’t mind the big zit on my forhead hahaha!
It’s actually my first time to use this kind of product specifically on my face, because I really don’t use sunblock before on this area because I don’t usually go out under the blazing heat of the sun. (I don’t want to get tanned hahahah!). When I go swimming, hiking or any outdoor activities that would require me to stay under the sun for a long period of time, that’s the only time I use sunblock. Plus most sunblocks will make you look like a white ghost when applied. hahaha!
Well, this one is different. It’s so nice that it doesn’t leave a white cast behind like some normal sunblock. This is due to Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway’s advanced non-chemical UV filter with a more transparent formula. Now I wouldn’t mind applying the Petal Velvet Sunaway whenever I go out during daylight.
If you could notice on the right photo, the Petal Velvet Sunaway gave my face a shiny look which got me worried at first because I have an oily type skin already. SoI thought it would make my face more oily. But that’s not the case, it is the hyaluronic acid that is on the works as it replenish moisture and deeply hydrates my skin. I like the feel as well, it’s just light-feeling and not sticky at all.
And here’s what it looks like when I applied my simple everyday make up on top of the Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway. At first I felt some mild pricking sensation on my face, maybe because it’s my first time to use a sunscreen and put make up on top of it right away(kinda panicked a bit-forgot to do allergy test first like I used to do-hahaha!). But after a few minutes the pricking sensation was gone and there’s no allergic reaction. Hard to have a sensitive skin.
Then the second time that I applied it, I let it set first for about 5 mins before I put make up on. This time, there’s no more pricking sensation anymore.
Normally, my face usually becomes oily two to three hours after applying make up, but look at this amazing result. Still with velvety finish. The sebum control of Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway really works. That’s because of the micro powder particles that absorb sebum and excess oil. Wow! my face is not that oily at all. I love this product already!
So imagine Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Althea Petal Velvet powder, it would be a perfect combination for people like me with oily skin type especially with the kind of weather that we have in the Philippines, hot and humid. These are a must-have items. The product claims that it is suitable for all skin types, but since mine is oily, I can only attest based on my usage and experience. For me it served its purpose.
Would I buy more Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway? DEFINITELY!
